Safety concept
PROFIsafe option S11 is an integrated, safety-oriented electronics component. The safety concept of this component is based on a safe status for all safety-oriented process variables.

By means of the 2-channel redundant system structure of the safety component, with the use of suitable monitoring mechanisms, the requirements of

• SIL3 according to EN 61508
• category 4 according to EN 954-1
• and performance level "e" according to EN ISO 13849-1

are fulfilled. When the system detects a fault, the system reacts by reverting to a safe status.

Safe output F-DO_STO can be used to switch the power section of the MOVIPRO^® to "Safe stop" (safe state) and thereby safely disconnect the drive.

PROFIsafe option S11 – features

• PROFIsafe communication
• "STO" function (Safe Torque Off in accordance with IEC 61800-5-2)
  –  Stop category 0 according to EN 60204-1 (STO)
• Requirements in accordance with SIL 3 according to EN 61508
• Performance level "e" in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1

As regards safe disconnection, the safety category of the basic MOVIPRO^® unit applies to the entire MOVIPRO^® system with PROFIsafe option S11.

Summary: MOVIPRO® may only be used in applications up to performance level d according to EN ISO 13849-1.
